BETHUNE
Mary Bethune was
the foremost black educator of her time. She founded her own school
which later became part of a college. She headed the National
Council of Negro Women and helped develop the black Woman's Club
movement. In addition, she served as special advisor to President
Franklin D. Roosevelt.
