Madam C. J. Walker was America's first female, self-made millionaire.  For many years she supported herself and her daughter as a washerwoman.  She began experimenting with her own hair recipes at night.  Soon she started marketing her products making herself her best advertisement.  Hard work eventually yielded her incredible wealth.  Her drive to succeed was matched by her sincere desire to foster success in others.  Madam C. J. Walker provided exceptional employment opportunities and contributed to educational institutions, social organizations, and political causes.
