HENRY FLIPPER

Henry Flipper was the first African American to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Each year West Point presents an award in honor of Henry Flipper to the graduate who best exemplifies "the highest qualities of leadership, self-discipline, and perseverance in the face of unusual difficulties while a cadet."
